Advanced Chat Functions
We’ve written a number of different articles regarding the chat system in our Ares free download, all of which helps to provide information about joining a chatroom and creating your own. However, one thing we haven’t looked into yet is some of the advanced options included in it which you really should take a look at if you’re going to be participating in these chats in order to make sure you have the best experience you can with a tool like this. For now, we’re going to start off with the basics by telling you how you can create your own chatroom very quickly before moving onto the main article of the article, the different options you have to choose from.
Now, all of the options we’re going to be talking about are regarding setting up your own chatroom and not simply joining one. For this, you’re obviously going to need to know how to set one up, so we’ll talk about this quite briefly now for those of you who haven’t read our previous articles. There really isn’t anything complicated about this part of the job, you have to install the file we’ve provided you with. Once done, you open up the software and then go into Chat –> Host your Channel. This is a button you’ll see in the navigation. Once you’ve clicked the button, you should be presented with a few simple settings such as the name of your channel which you’ll need to enter before it gets created. After this has been done, you’ll have your own fully functional chatroom! Now it’s time to go into more advanced options you’ll find.
Flood Protection – Unfortunately, a lot of people these days like to be rather annoying and spam chatrooms. There isn’t anything you can do to stop them entirely but the best way to prevent your chatroom from getting spammed is by switching this option to on. What it will do is when 1 user is sending a huge amount of messages in a short period of time, it will automatically kick them out of it to ensure that the spamming is stopped. You could even ban them if you want to when you notice it.
Accounts – This can be a good way of giving other people access that you know and trust so that you don’t have to monitor the chatroom yourself constantly. Our software makes it very easy for you, you just simply enter a few details about each individual person and you can then choose if you want to give them moderation abilities such as the option to kick people from the chatroom. If you have a lot of friends who are using our application too, you’ll find this option to be very helpful and we highly recommend that you take advantage of it. Don’t give out too much power though or you could end up losing control!
Filter – If you want to prevent some words from being mentioned in the chatroom, this is the best way to go. Perhaps the best use for it is to filter out “http://” and “www.” if you don’t want people to share links in your chatroom. The system would then automatically kick anyone out from the chatroom who sends a message which violates these filters. It’s very simple and means you don’t have to do as much work when using the software. Filtering links is recommended to stop spam.
