Fixing Connection Problems

The majority of people who use our Ares free download will never run into any problems with the software, you’ll be able to install it and then download whatever files you want with no issues at all. However, in rare cases, you may encounter connection problems which could limit the activities you can do. This is something you obviously want to avoid and fix as soon as possible if you face these issues, so in this article we’re going to tell you about how you can sort them out immediately.

Am I connected?

The first thing to do is identify that you’re having connection problems. Some people automatically assume it’s the network’s fault when actually it is something they’ve done instead. For example, if you search for a file that doesn’t exist in the network then no results will be shown, which could lead to some people getting the wrong impression. First of all, you should make sure you’re searching for things that you know will exist. One way you can check if you’re connected is by opening up the software and going into “Control Panel”. You’ll see if you’re connected to network directly from here, it should show your username and the “Connected” status if so. If not, you know you’re having problems and you need to continue reading this article to fix it.

Reinstalling Ares Galaxy

In some cases, connection problems can occur with the older versions of the program. In the latest version, lots of bugs have been fixed to help fix this which means you really do need to upgrade to the latest if you want to sort them out. Even if you are on the latest version, reinstalling should be your first port of call as this resets all of the cache and settings which could be causing the issues. You can use our download now to do so, there’s a simple reinstallation option available for you. If you originally installed it from another website, this could be the problem. You should never install it from a website other than ours as you could be putting your computer at risk.

Check your Firewall

The firewall behind your internet connection is usually the problem to most internet related problems. It could be blocking our software from accessing the rest of the network, hence resulting in you not being able to download files as you would like. We highly recommend that you check your firewall and ensure that it hasn’t been blocked. A lot of firewalls will ask you if you want to allow the software to connect to the internet when you first run it on your computer, you should have said yes to this. If this wasn’t the case, you probably have it blocked and therefore need to either go into Windows Firewall (or another firewall software you have installed) and correct it so that it can connect like any other software.

Changing the Port

Sometimes the port that our Ares download is trying to connect to can cause problems. You should never need to touch this option as it is all done automatically so if you’ve changed it, it’s probably a good idea to change it back to the default. You can do this by opening it up and going into Control Panel –> Transfer and then delete the port option completely. Once you’ve submitted it, you need to simply restart the software and when you open it again, it should try connecting to the default port which will hopefully connect as it should do.

In conclusion, we’ve given you some of the best ways you can solve any connection issues you’re having with the program. Note that this isn’t guaranteed to solve them as there could be other reasons for it. You could also try connecting through a proxy if you still can’t get it to work, but in the majority of situations you should be able to fix it by following the above steps. You’ll then be able to enjoy the client like everyone else in the world can and will be able to download as many files as you want to from the network, and even share files back.
