How P2P Works
P2P is a concept that has continued to build up momentum ever since the internet began to gain in popularity throughout the world. In this article, we’re going to be telling you more information about how it works, how it started as well as how it links in with our Ares free download. Let’s start off by talking about how it works.
P2P, or peer-to-peer as it is also called, is very different from usual file downloading. Ordinarily, a file is located on a server and when you decide to download a file, you simply request it from the server it is being held on and it simply transferred from there to your computer so that you can use it. This may be good in some circumstances but in general, you’ll find that the quantity of files available like this is much lower. You’re also very much relying on 1 computer remaining online. Our program does not use this structure for that very reason and aims to provide the best way to download files.
In a P2P network, this is much more complex. All users in the “network” will run Ares which allows everyone to identify the people who are running the software to enable them to exchange files. When you make a search, it will then search the hard drives of everyone who is connected to the network and when it finds one that has the file you need, the download begins and then starts transferring to your computer. The opposite happens when someone else searches – your hard drive will be scanned so that other people can also access the files they’re looking for. This is nothing to worry about though, it won’t slow down your computer or use up all of your internet bandwidth. Everything is done in the background to make it less hassle for you, you don’t even see what goes on. You just get to enjoy the benefits of it.
Another term you may want to familiarise yourself with when it comes to the P2P network and industry. When a user continues to download files and immediately disconnects to make sure that other users cannot download files from them, it’s called “leeching”. This is something that can be very frustrating as it limits the speed you can get when you’re downloading an important file that you might be wanting. Never the less, this is only a small proportion of users so you should still be able to enjoy the great speeds you’ll get when using our client.
In conclusion, the P2P network concept is actually quite simple. Behind the scenes there is a lot going on that you don’t need to worry about, to the average user it all works and does the job you need without any technical knowledge needed. You can just go ahead and download without any worries. However, we need to mention that it isn’t our responsibility for what you download. If you need something, you should use our Ares free download which will allow you to do all of this in just a few short minutes.
