Specifications for File Sharing

File sharing is something that is done by most people these days, everyone is starting to realise that being able to share content between users freely and easily is a great system to have. This can be done for both legal purposes (such as sharing your own work, like documents and music you’ve created to get the word out) and illegal purposes (such as sharing copyrighted files without permission) but either way, you can do it all in one application. However, you may be wondering, what specifications do you need to participate in a network like this? In this article we’ll explain all you need to know.

Internet Speed

The first and most important thing that you’re going to need is a quick internet speed. Without this, file transfers will be painfully slow and will mean you can’t get access to files as quickly as other people. You also won’t be able to share files to other people as quickly. We recommend that you take a look at the various different plans available for your country and try and get the best speed you can (without a bandwidth cap if available) so you can enjoy the network more, this is one of the biggest limiting factors in how file sharing will work for you. Note that some countries are able to get faster speeds than others so research is definitely key in this area.

Hard Disk Space

Even if you have a very quick internet speed, you’ll struggle to get anywhere if you have a hard disk with only a small amount of space free. It’ll mean you won’t be able to download files because Ares Galaxy wouldn’t be able to store it anywhere. A lot of people choose to make the application save to their default built-in hard drive, but we think the best way is actually to purchase an external hard drive which can store all of the files you download from the P2P network. They aren’t expensive and you should be able to get them up to 2TB in size, which will store a huge amount of data and will last for a long time. Best of all, it won’t slow down your computer either.

CPU/RAM

This is a bit more technical and a lot of users might not know what we mean when we’re talking about this, but we can say that software such as our Ares download really don’t require much CPU or RAM. What this basically means is that it should be able to run on fairly low specification computers that could be many years old, because the program has been optimized to work on as many systems as possible. You shouldn’t see much of an effect on how your computer runs when you have this installed. On the other hand, other programs you have such as Adobe Photoshop could make a big impact on performance. For the purpose of our tool, though, you really shouldn’t worry.

In conclusion, we’ve talked about three different areas of specifications here that you could need in order to make the most out of a file sharing application. The internet connection you’re on is absolutely essential to the whole system, you really won’t be able to benefit much at all if you’re on a slow dial-up connection as you’ll be waiting days for a single file to complete. The amount of space available on your hard drive should also be something you show an interest in because when you really begin to get involved in the network, the file sizes really start to add up and you could run out quickly (especially if downloading movies). The hardware specifications of your computer aren’t as important so anyone can enjoy what we have to offer for free today.
