Customization
Skins - The actual layout and color scheme of an application is quickly becoming more and more important to users. For example, with a company like Apple Computers, people are looking more and more to get both hardware and software that is both functional and looks great too. This is exactly the same with file sharing applications, so this tool gives users the ability to change the GUI and the colors that are used with a simple option. There are many different options included within without any extra installations being required. These range from the default standard colors to more specific ones such as green, to make sure the tool is built for everyone.
Proxies - Proxies are used to hide your IP address when making file transfers or to get around firewalls that attempt to stop it from happening. A lot of ISPs and education environments will monitor you, so using proxies can be one way that can help to prevent any serious problems from occurring. The program will allow you to customize settings to suit any proxy that you have in place - you'll need to enter relevant information about how you want it to connect to it including the login credentials required and when this has done, you should just be able to connect to the network with no problems. Your real IP will not be shown to anyone in the network.
Transfer Options - It's a pretty obvious fact that not everyone is running on very powerful and quick internet connections and computers. It is for this reason that some people will be able to get better download speeds than others, some will be able to transfer more files at once and unfortunately some won't. Ares Galaxy has been designed with everyone in mind, so you can set the maximum number of files you want to be transferred, download and upload speeds plus many more configurations you might want to control. This is to manage your usage - you won't go over any bandwidth limits as long as you're aware of what you're doing and set the limits appropriately.
Chat Options - When you're using the IRC network to communicate with people you're going to want to make some customizations, for example to personalize yourself so you're distinguishable from the rest of the users. Without doing this, nobody will have any idea who you are so it's a good idea to take a look at this before you get started in the chat. Only simple tweaks are required, such as setting your own nickname which everyone will be able to see (best to avoid using personal details for that reason). You can customize much more than this of course, you can build a whole profile around you and your tastes and preferences, but we'll leave this up to you.
Hashlink Setup - Hashlinks are also commonly used on the internet as a way of transferring files across networks over the internet, an alternative to the P2P network we've included in the application. There are some ways of customizing the settings though, for example setting security settings and the way you'd like it to handle these types of links, even disabling them completely if you want to. These must all be changed in the hashlink setup, although we recommend you do your research beforehand if you want to make sure you know both the advantages and the possible risks associated with using them and allowing them to execute on your computer.
Network Configuration - You'll also need to edit the settings related to your network in order to make the software function as you want it to. This is one of the most important customizations you're going to make, if a connection to other users isn't possible then you're going to struggle to get any use out of the program at all. This is one of the areas that we suggest you take a look at first.
