Installing Ares
So you've taken the great step of deciding to install Ares Galaxy onto your machine. That's great! It's good to see more and more people joining our huge community of users and really getting involved with the file sharing part of the application. If you aren't sure how to proceed, follow the steps we've given below to help guide you.
Downloading the Software
The first part of the process of installing this piece of software is to download the software onto your computer. As with all applications, this comes in the form of an executable file which will take care of all of the hard work. The only thing you need to do is download it and then run it so that the commands can be used by your computer. This is a very simple thing to do, in fact all that's required is you using the link we've provided on our website and then choosing to save the file to your hard drive. You'll need to remember the location on your hard drive that you're saving to so that you can then execute the file. You may need to find your browser's default download location by going into the settings to do this.
Installation Process
The next thing you need to do is to use the file you downloaded, pretty obvious really. Locate the file on your hard drive and then double click it to open it, you must be on the Windows operating system for this to work. Your anti-virus software could alarm you at this point, but we can assure you that this is a fake positive and does not mean the program is infected. If possible, choose to ignore this warning and continue anyway. You'll be shown a few different options, such as other recommended tools that you can obtain as well as the location on your hard disk that you want to install the program to. This doesn't take a long at all so don't worry, you'll be shown a progress bar when the installation is taking place.
After a short period of time (usually a few minutes depending on your computer's hardware), the installation process should be completed. A message will be shown in the window which tells you, you may even be advised to reboot your machine if some files couldn't be updated at the time. Either way, read what it says and follow it straight away, then you'll be able to get started and actually the file sharing application in any way you want.
Using the Software
After the installation process has been complete, you can then go on to use the software very quickly. The simplest way of doing so is by pressing the Start button in the bottom-left hand corner of your screen, clicking "All Programs" and then finding "Ares" on the list. After you've chosen to open the tool, in a few seconds you'll be confronted with the main application, with the GUI and features that we're all familiar with. This is about it in terms of installing Ares Galaxy, the next thing to do is to learn how to use it and make use of the downloading and upload of files into the P2P network.
