FrostWire Bug Reports

Our FrostWire download is well known for being a reliable piece of software that allows you to communicate with people as well as downloading files through the network – any type of file you want, but most users concentrate on obtaining music and videos as these are the most popular. Of course, despite how popular the tool is and how many hours of development have been put in to create, there could be small problems at certain points during the operation. This is something you should make sure gets reported so it can be fixed in the next update, so in this article we’re going to tell you about submitting bug reports.

You’ll be glad to know that it has a feature to allow the software to automatically submit bug reports on your behalf when they occur, you won’t have to manually enter all of the information on their website or anything like that. However, this isn’t done by default so we’re going to explain the different options that are included when it comes to bug reports. You can even choose not to submit them if you really want to although there is no reason for this. You’ll find all of the options in Tools –> Options and then into “Bug Reports”.

The first options you see on this page are “Always Send Immediately”, “Always Ask For Review” and “Always Discard All Errors”. These should be pretty explanatory – when a bug is detected, you need to select what you want the tool to do. We recommend that you select the first option because this keeps everything in the background, therefore you don’t need to do any work at all and it still helps the developers to fix the bug. Asking for a review will make the software prompt you before it submits it to the developers, giving you some information about what is happening, whereas discarding all errors will not submit anything at all no matter what the situation is.

You’ll find another option in this control panel as well called “Send Errors Automatically if FrostWire is Frozen”. This is again very explanatory but what it means is when the option is enabled, if the tool happens to crash it will automatically send all of the errors to the developers without prompting you, it will be done in the background. Obviously as the software will have crashed, giving you a prompt wouldn’t actually be possible anyway. If it has crashed, this is obviously a serious bug that needs to be fixed and we therefore recommend to you that you enable this option just in case a problem does occur so that other users won’t have to struggle with it themselves for long.

In conclusion, this is a great piece of software for downloading files but as with everything, sometimes it may not be perfect. Bugs may occur which could impact on the actions you’re taking – and the best thing you can do to resolve this is by enabling the bug reporting feature. Anything serious should be fixed with a software update done shortly after the report has been analysed and the problem has been resolved. Enabling this is just a way of doing the community a favour as well as making sure you don’t encounter it again, there really is no loss to you. If you haven’t yet installed it onto your system, we recommend that you go ahead and use it and make sure it’s ready to use on your Windows machine.
