Remove White Background in Draw

Having a white background on an image can be very frustrating if you’re trying to place it on a document or page that doesn’t have a white background too. It makes it stand out in a really bad way and it is something you should avoid at all costs. The Draw tool, though, gives you a great way of removing this background to make it transparent, making it fit onto whatever you wish to place it on. This process is rather simple but we’re going to go through it all here so read on if you want to know how to do it.

1. First of all, you need to load up the Draw software and then create a new file. You can do this by going to File –> New. Once you have a fresh canvas to start off from, you need to import the image you want to be transparent and you can do this by going to Insert –> Picture –> From File. You then need to select the file you want to change and open it. You should have a simple view of the image in Draw now. Once you’ve got to this stage, you can move on.

2. From this view, you may struggle to work on it as the background isn’t that clear. At this stage (and it isn’t required), we recommend that you change the background color to something that isn’t white. That’ll make it easier for you to see what you’re working on and it’ll be much clearer when you’ve actually removed it. You can do this by going onto Format –> Page –> Background and then change None to any color you want.

3. You should now be able to clearly the white background color. Now you need to work on removing it – it’ll just take a minute. Go into Tools –> Eyedropper and then click on the image itself which you should be able to see as well. You should see a window open, you need to click the checkbox next to “Source color” on the first row. You then need to select “Transparent” and then replace it.

You should find that now there is no white background. In some cases it won’t completely remove it, in which case you may need to go back and do it again but changing the tolerance level. After only a minute or two, you should find that the image you’ve been working on now has a transparent background and you should be able to use it how you want. Draw is a great tool to do this job and it is available exclusively in this suite. It is one of the most popular open source pieces of software that is used worldwide so if you want to be able to do tasks like removing the white background from images, you really do need to use our Open Office download. The installation process is quick and easy so why not get started now? There are tons of other unique features included in this office suite – read more on our website if you want to find out more.
